Since 1992, when the first academic exchange program of the US State Department for Kazakhstanis was held, the number and variety of programs is growing every year. Some of them, such as FLEX, have been going on for about 30 years, and some were recently founded. Today, there are programs related to training in various areas of professional and social life. There are short-term, long-term and summer school programs. Some of them are fully or partially funded by the US Government to develop cultural ties between countries, while others are funded by certain American institutions, educational institutions, and foundations.
